An early undated, but thought to be 1956, Revell foldout publication that might be the company's introductory
catalog lists the Great Northern Box Car as being Revell stock number T4001. No picture is provided. Interestingly,
this car is listed at $1.98, while its companion New Haven Box Car is $2.49 and includes a Hobo figure. Maybe the GN
was tougher on the freeloading hobo, than the New Haven was to them? Notice in the above picture of a Revell Great Northern
Box Car that the car's roadnumber matches the Revell stock number. Not an uncommon practice by model train makers, Lionel
comes to mind, though not usually too prototypical. Does help one determine a stock number on an item without a box
however.

The Revell New Haven Box Car is first shown as a black car with white bands in the 1956 catalog.
Actual production examples seen in later Revell catalogs featured a solid red New Haven Box Car. The model carries the
stock number T4003 for '56 and '57; switching to T4004 in 1958.
